Weizenbaum Event in Berlin: How GenAI and Process Intelligence are revolutionizing process management

At the Weizenbaum Institute event in Berlin, leading experts explored how Generative AI and Process Intelligence are reshaping the future of process management. The forum brought together academic insight and practical application, highlighting how contextual knowledge, management dashboards, recommender systems, and AI-powered modeling tools are transforming decision-making and operational excellence. In collaboration with Noreja and BOC Group, the event demonstrated how GenAI moves beyond automation—enabling deeper root cause analysis, smarter governance, and a more balanced interaction between human expertise and intelligent systems.

Overview

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and innovative approaches in process analytics open up completely new possibilities for fundamentally rethinking process management. In this expert forum, we took a practical look at this potential and its concrete application. The discussion had a focus on the latest technologies, innovative application scenarios and valuable experience reports. This event was held in cooperation with Noreja and the BOC Group.

Jan Mendling: What do generative artificial intelligence techniques mean for business processes?

Artificial intelligence will fundamentally change many types of business processes. How can we as employees, process managers and decision-makers make targeted use of these new capabilities? In this presentation, the challenges will be formulated and corresponding recommendations proposed.

Kristina Sahling: From data to decisions: How management dashboards and recommender systems are transforming decision-making

Management dashboards are a key tool for data-driven decisions, but how do recommender systems influence their use? In this presentation, I will show what role expertise, experience and the mindset towards AI play and how these factors influence the acceptance and effectiveness of recommendations.

Jennifer Haase: Artificial intelligence in the company: Where machines support - and humans remain indispensable

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers companies opportunities, but also requires strategic decisions: Which tasks should be taken over by machines and which should remain in human hands? Using scientific findings and practical examples, I will show how organizations can use AI sensibly and sustainably. The aim is to combine humans and machines in a targeted manner in order to promote progress and avoid a loss of expertise.

Lukas Pfahlsberger: Contextualized processes, more precise solutions: The importance of contextual knowledge for GenAI-assisted problem finding

Contextual knowledge is essential in GenAI-supported problem identification in order to correctly classify process data and derive more precise solutions. Targeted contextualization not only allows patterns to be recognized, but also the actual causes of problems to be identified. The presentation uses the Noreja solution to show how contextualization can be successful in order to enable more effective and intelligent root cause analysis.

Kai-Helmut Koll: ADONIS and artificial intelligence: revolutionary process management through intelligent solutions

Have you ever stood in front of a blank whiteboard during a workshop and felt the oppressive feeling that nothing has been written down on it yet? Getting your first thoughts down on paper can sometimes seem like an eternity.
