Create a Dashboard Tab - How to Start

Creating a Dashboard tab is the first step toward structured process monitoring and insight generation. Each tab represents a focused analytical workspace, combining selected widgets and filter settings tailored to a specific investigation perspective. By choosing a predefined Dimension from the Builder, assigning a clear title, and organizing relevant visual components, users establish a dedicated environment for tracking performance, compliance, financial indicators, or behavioral patterns. Flexible configuration options, public sharing capabilities, and customizable layouts ensure that dashboards remain collaborative, scalable, and aligned with evolving analytical needs.

To begin monitoring on your Dashboard, start by creating a new tab. Each tab represents a collection and arrangement of dashboard widgets and filter settings which are precisely tailored to the matter under investigation. To create your first tab, simply click on the "+" button at the center of the screen. If you already have tabs set up, you can find the "+" button on the right side of the last tab in the tab bar. Upon initiation, a dialog box will prompt you to select a Dimension. This Dimension is previously established in the Builder and provides a specific perspective on a particular process. If the list of dimensions is empty, head to the Builder to connect data sources. Once you've chosen a Dimension, give the tab a clear and descriptive title, like "Performance Monitoring - Order-to-Cash." The system doesn't allow duplicate names, ensuring clarity for all colleagues viewing the analysis. Click on "Create", and you will be directed to the empty Dashboard.

As your investigation continues to progress, you have the flexibility to make adjustments to the tab titles whenever necessary. You can also choose to make a tab public so colleagues with access to the instance can see and work with it. When creating a new tab, simply activate the “Make tab public” checkbox in the creation dialog. For existing tabs, click the pencil icon to open the edit dialog, where the same option is available. Public tabs are shown on the right side of the tab bar, sorted alphabetically, and marked with a globe icon in the color of their respective Dimension. Simply hover over the current title, click on the small pencil icon, and input the revised wording. In addition, the tab order is easily customizable - just drag a tab to the left or right to rearrange the sequence in which your narrative will be presented. There is no limit to the number of tabs you can create, so don't hesitate to add one for each relevant perspective. The different colors assigned to each tab also serve as a visual tool to help you distinguish between the various Dimensions associated with each tab. Feel free to fully utilize this feature to enhance the organization and clarity of your investigation.

When you first open your newly created Dashboard, you’ll see an empty canvas waiting for your insights. To add your very first widgets, click the “+” button. A modal will appear, presenting an organized gallery of available widgets. Widgets are grouped into categories — Time, Behavior, Compliance, Finance, and so on—which you can filter via the list on the left.

Simply click any widget to select it; you can even multi-select by clicking several at once. Selected items are highlighted with a turquoise border.

There are two kinds of widgets: Default and Configurable. Default widgets (for example, Case Amount or Variant Amount) are ready to drop onto your dashboard exactly as they appear—they cannot be altered. Configurable widgets (for example, Average Activity Duration) let you tailor their behavior: after selecting one, the bottom-right button changes from “Add to Dashboard” to “Configure”. Clicking “Configure” takes you to a secondary screen where you choose the specific parameters you want, then you click “Add to Dashboard” to place your custom widget.

Once your widgets are on the canvas, you can arrange them however you like—drag them to new positions or resize them by grabbing and moving their borders. When you’re happy with the layout, click the save icon in the top-right corner. Your current arrangement will lock in, and you won’t be able to move or resize widgets until you re-enter edit mode.

To make further changes—whether that’s adding new widgets or adjusting your layout—simply click the edit icon in the top right. This returns you to the widget gallery and lets you continue customizing your Dashboard exactly as before.
